The legislation has seen a plenty of casinos and poker rooms shut up shop to American Players - 888 and PartyGaming being the biggest names to pull out the market- but the law doesn't actually make internet gaming illegal, rather it prevents banks and payment processors from accepting money from players.
Perhaps the biggest question comes down to whether this legislation is all a ruse. Some Commentators are suggesting that the law is unworkable, and once US midterm elections are out of the way, plans to regulate and tax the online gaming industry will be introduced.
What is certain is that European players are going to be the main focus of attention in 2007.
