It seems that the northern American state, Minnesota, wrote notices to several telephone and internet service providers to make them prohibit the access to about 200 sites. So next time these state players want to play online again, they may think twice about it.

Last year, the officials in the state of Kentucky already tried to stop their players to access the online gambling sites. The plan failed, so who knows if it will work this time in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s AGED (Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division) cited the 1961 law and asked AT&T Internet Services, Frontier Communications, Direct TV, Comcast Cable, Dish Network, Embarq, Verizon Wireless and Wildblue Communications, Sprint/Nextel, Qwest to forbid the Minnesota-based players from gaining access.

John Willems, Director for AGED, said that they announced to site operators and online gamblers to plan an access prohibition.
AGED expects responses from the companies within 2 or 3 weeks, after that it might refer issues of non-compliance to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission).

Willems said that for the sate of Minnesota and its inhabitants, the most important thing is legality and also the self-governance and accountability.

All around the world the smoking ban is more frequent in public spaces. Monday a legislative committee in Connecticut voted to ban smoking in 2 Indian casinos. They voted despite threats of legal action and a potential battle over nearly $ 400 million a year in slot-machine income presently added to the public purse.

The reasons why the Democratic members voted for the smoking ban were: to protect the health of casino workers, though they have to stay there all the time and work, either they smoke or not, and also to protect all those who complained health problems caused by second hand smoke.

The Republican members think of the bill that it’s unconstitutional and that it would violate the compacts between the state and the Indian tribes, which operate the Foxwoods casinos and the Mohegan Sun. Besides, they criticize that the bill prohibit smoking in the casinos, but in private clubs it’s still allowed.

At the end the bill passed, the democrats won, but the two casinos decided that they prefer to reach a resolution directly with the governor’s office and not being forced by the legislature to ban smoking.

Harrah’s, the world’s largest casino entertainment company, based in Las Vegas, projects to open a massive resort in Spain. It should have opened one also in the Bahamas, but than it lost its interest, now it concentrates itself just on Spain.

This resort will be Spain’s first large scale casino resort. It’ll be a part of the El Reino development about 120 miles south of Madrid. This big project will include also hotels, golf courses, spas and entertainment complexes. The initial investment in this project was about $ 670 million from both sides Harrah’s and its partner the El Reino. The top of this project will be a big layer of restaurants, bars and lounges. Both partners waited long for the Spanish government agreement to realize the project.

Harrah’s reported a big loss last year and there are still bills to pay.
The US analysts in the Bahamas are still supposing what the company is going to decide.
In the United States the tourism is in recession, while in Europe it’s increasing and that’s why the economic environment is more stable in Europe and it’s more convenient to invest there.
